“Posting this so that other women can stay safe!” is what a woman wrote in Reddit’s “r/Delhi” community. She had booked a ride with Rapido, and everything went smoothly until the driver dropped her off at her destination. As she was making the payment, the driver began asking personal questions. Though she didn’t mind at the time and let it slide with a nervous laugh.

However, to her horror, the situation escalated. The driver began calling her on the phone and even sent multiple messages on WhatsApp. The distressed woman has since filed a complaint with Rapido and shared her experience on social media to warn others.

“Hey everyone I booked a ride from Rapido yesterday. This guy dropped me off at my location and started asking me personal questions when I was paying him. I don’t feel bad about any small talk so I started talking. Then this guy said something along the lines of, ‘Aap itne young aur sundar ho, fir mangetar kyun?’ (You’re so young and beautiful, why do you have a fiancé?),” claimed the woman.

She continued, “I brushed it off and in nervous laughter said: ‘Thank you, bhaiya (brother),’ to which he said: ‘Please, bhaiya mat bolo aur ho sake to apne socials share krdo (Please don’t call me bhaiya, and if possible, share your socials).’ I lied about not using social media and just ran away.”

The woman, who goes by ‘alooghobhi’ on Reddit, further alleged Rapido driver of harassment. “Today this guy called me dozens of times and even texted like it’s okay to breach my personal privacy,” she shared, posting a screenshot of the messages she received on WhatsApp.

According to the screenshot, he sent three messages. The first two were simply “Hello” and “Ji”. About an hour later, when she hadn’t replied, he sent: “Pehchana nahi kya aap ne? (Didn’t you recognise me?)”

The woman in the comments section of her post revealed that she contacted Rapido’s customer care and they said they would see what they could do. She also flagged the driver’s number as “harassment” on Truecaller, an app that helps users identify unknown calls and block spam.
