US President Donald Trump spoke on phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday. The White House has described this conversation as ‘good and useful’. This conversation took place at a time when Russia’s war in Ukraine continues. Both the leaders have agreed to hold a meeting of senior advisors next week. This meeting will be led by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. After this, the meeting between Trump and Putin has been scheduled in Budapest, Hungary. Trump also told that he will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office of the White House tomorrow.

Putin congratulated the peace agreement
Trump said that Putin congratulated him on the peace agreement ending the Israel-Hamas war. Trump believes that this agreement reached in the Middle East will now help in taking forward the talks to end the Ukraine war.

Trump’s statement – ‘The conversation was very productive’
After the call, Trump wrote on the social media platform ‘Truth Social’, ‘I just had a very productive phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. President Putin congratulated me and the United States on reaching a historic peace agreement in the Middle East – a dream that has been dreamed of for centuries. I believe that this success in the Middle East will strengthen our talks towards ending the Russia-Ukraine war.

Putin praised Melania Trump’s work
US President Donald Trump said that Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked and praised First Lady Melania Trump for her efforts related to children. Earlier, Trump had posted on ‘Truth Social’ that he was going to talk to Putin on the phone and would share its update later.

Conversation before meeting Zelensky
This phone conversation between Trump and Putin took place at a time when Trump is scheduled to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday. Missile support is expected to be a major issue in this meeting.
