Cricketer Prithvi Shaw has been facing mounting criticism from people after he went unsold at the IPL Mega Auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Despite setting his base price at Rs 75 lakh, the 25-year-old failed to attract any bids. Amid this, a video of Shaw addressing the trolling he faces amid his poor form went viral on social media.
“Finally, Prithvi Shaw expresses his views with clarity. I guess he will sort out things now. I wish him to bounce back stronger,” reads the caption to the video shared on X.
Speaking to a YouTube channel, Focused Indian, Shaw said, “If he is not following me then how will he troll that means he has eyes on me nice. So, I feel like that trolling is not a good thing but it is not such a bad thing either, sometimes we all see trolls, whoever is a cricketer, whoever is a troll, yes no, I don’t know about everyone else but I myself see all those trolls.”
“If people make memes on me, I see them as well. I sometimes get hurt,” he further expressed.

In response to this, an individual wrote, “Feel sad about what he’s going through. He’s an immensely talented young man. Someone senior needs to put an arm around him, take him under his wings and mentor and guide this kid. It breaks my heart to see him badly hurt when he’s dealing with his failures alongside. Stay strong.”
“He has a point,” said yet another.
A third commented, “This is not sad. We should be proud of Prithvi Shaw for expressing his views with such clarity. He has achieved more in this young age of 25 than 99% of this country’s population ever will even if they live for 75 years. BCCI should make sure that youngsters, as well as senior cricketers, are encouraged to take their mental well-being and stress management seriously.”
“He is 25. He has lots of cricket left in him. All he has to do is answer with his bat in Ranji and make a comeback. Responding like this on social media doesn’t help,” suggested a fourth.
A fifth joined, “He will join from the ashes.”
“What downfall? There was never a huge rise in the first place, just a bunch of hype. He will work hard and deliver better in the future. That’s when he’ll see the ups and downs,” chimed in a sixth.
Mohammad Kaif on Prithvi Shaw
Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif blasted Prithvi Shaw after he went unsold in the IPL auction.
“Delhi has backed Prithvi Shaw a lot. DC had hoped that he is a powerplay player and would hit 6 boundaries in one over. And he did that too. He hit Shivam Mavi for 6 fours in an over. He had a lot of potential and DC backed him to the hilt. We always thought that if Shaw manages to score, we will win. And we gave him a lot of chances,” Kaif told on Jio Cinema.
He added, “There were meetings in the night where we would sit and ponder if Prithvi should play or not because he has been failing. So at night we would decide that Prithvi would not be in the playing XI, and then later on the day of the match, we would change our decision – that, no he will because maybe if he goes big, we would win.”
