His songs written for films like “Rang De Basanti, ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ are still in the hearts of the audience. He has received many national and international awards for his deep sensitivity and impressive writing style. Prasoon was awarded the Padma Shri Award in 2015. These days he is also the chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification.

Prasoon Joshi shared this story in one of his interviews. He says, when actor Aamir Khan asked him to write this song, he tried to feel the pain of a child who is away from his mother. While writing the song, he was lost in his own childhood memories.

He remembered how when he was younger and surrounded by any fear, his eyes used to unknowingly find their mother. He knew that whatever fear, only his mother could remove them from that fear. He threaded this feeling in the words of singing- ‘I never tell, but I am afraid of darkness, I do not show me, but I care about you, I am mother … you are all knowing, is there mother?’
