The 2.5-kilometer flyover on the Inner Ring Road connecting Koramangala’s Kendriya Sadan to Ejipura in Bengaluru has been delayed for quite a while. A social media post has brought attention to this long-delayed Ejipura flyover, sparking frustration and laughter among netizens.
A resident posted two pictures on X, comparing the ancient Hampi bazaar to the under-construction flyover. One of the pictures shows the under-construction Ejipura flyover, while another is an image of Hampi’s ancient bazaar. He further asked a cheeky question, “What do you like more, Bengaluru? 1) Hampi ancient Bazaar 2) Ejipura modern flyover.”
The viral post poked fun at the never-ending construction of the flyover which was started way back in 2017.
Take a look at the post here:
The post quickly went viral, with many users joining in with satirical takes highlighting the delays and drawing humorous parallels between the two pictures. A user posted, “Ejipura modern flyover, of course. In today’s times, people are losing their touch with art. It is great that the GoK is doing all that is possible to introduce people to modern sculpture.”
Another wrote, “That flyover is not yet finished? Bro it’s been like 20 years if I am not wrong.”
“I dislike Ejipura flyovers because they offer no rain relief. On ORR, metro pillars provide shelter from rain,” read another remark.
“Wait few more years and Bangalore will start looking like Hampi…..all long abandoned projects,” quipped another.
The construction of the flyover started in 2017 and has been marred by several delays. Work on the project stalled after the contractor went bankrupt in 2019, while land acquisition issues further slowed progress.
Originally scheduled for completion in 2019 at a cost of ₹204 crore, this has been repeatedly pushed back. Then the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) promised to complete the project by March 2024, but the deadline was further extended. The project was last planned to be completed in February, but the deadline has been moved to December 2025.
