IIT Ropar in Punjab recently held its 14th annual convocation, led by the Institute director Rajeev Ahuja, where a total of 720 degrees were awarded. While the number of graduates was impressive, what caught everyone’s attention was a pookie moment between the director and a student. As the student came on stage to get the certificate, he first posed for a regular photo with the director. Then, the student surprised everyone by pulling out two black sunglasses, one for himself and one for Ahuja. The director happily agreed to wear the shades, leaving the crowd cheering for them.

Sharing the video on Instagram, the student wrote, “Not just degrees, but memories with a touch of swag. Thank you, Professor, for making convocation cooler, literally. When your Professor says yes to black shades at convocation and rocks them too while awarding degrees. Iconic moments only at IIT Ropar.”

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “The combination of coolest prof and student ever.”

Another shared, “I actually liked that he asked his professor before doing something he wanted to instead of making it a scene.”

“Guruji born in 1947 and living like 2050,” a comment read.

An individual stated, “Ahhh, pookie prof spotted, aura.”

Another jokingly mentioned, “I showed this to my professor and he said it’s AI.”

One more added, “It was our dream to receive convocation in this way, but our University didn’t bother to give us one.”

According to Tribune India, a total of 354 students completed their BTech, 181 finished MTech, 69 got MSc degrees, 114 earned PhDs and two students completed a dual BTech-MTech course. This year, the number of students graduating went up by nearly 32 per cent compared to last year. It was also a good year for placements. Around 80 per cent of the students were placed and the average salary package was Rs 23 lakh per year. 85 students got job offers even before completing their course.
