This action has been taken as part of the ongoing criminal investigation against President Yoon Suk Yeol. The President has been charged with rebellion in connection with the imposition of summary martial law. According to officials’ information, President Yoon Suk Yeol has not been arrested yet nor has he been interrogated.

The Justice Ministry confirmed that Yoon is the first South Korean president to be banned from leaving the country while in office. He recently declared emergency martial law to take decisive action against North Korean-backed ‘anti-national’ and ‘communist’ forces.
