PM Modi said, “Our meeting is taking place at a time when the world is surrounded by many challenges like wars, conflicts, economic uncertainty, climate change, terrorism. There is talk of North-South and East-West divide in the world. Inflation prevention, food security, energy security, health security, water security are priority topics for all countries and in the age of technology, cyber security, deep fakes, disinformation etc. have become new challenges. In such a situation, there are a lot of expectations regarding BRICS.”
PM Modi’s strict stance on terrorism

‘BRICS is not a divisive, public interest group’
The Prime Minister said, “I believe that as a diverse and inclusive platform, BRICS can play a positive role on all subjects. In this context, our approach should remain people centric. We should give this message to the world that BRICS is not a divisive but a public interest group.”
He said, “BRICS is an organization which has the will to change itself with the times. We should set our example in front of the whole world and raise our voice unanimously for reform of global institutions. We should move forward in a timely manner for reforms in global institutions like the United Nations Security Council, Multilateral Development Banks, WTO. While taking forward the efforts of BRICS, we should take care that the image of this organization does not become such that we do not want to reform global institutions but want to replace them.
