What are the main demands of farmer unions and agricultural organizations?

  • Among the most prominent demands of farmer organizations, the biggest demand was to double the amount of PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi. A demand was made to increase the amount of PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi from Rs 6000 to Rs 12,000, which has been done earlier also.
  • A demand has been made to bring small farmers also under the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme and under this, it has been recommended to make arrangements so that small farmers get the facility of getting crop insurance at zero premium.
  • A demand has been made to reduce the interest rates for farmer loans given to farmers and it has been recommended to bring it down to one percent.
  • Emphasis on tax reforms for tax assessment has been advocated in this meeting and under this, first of all the demand for exemption from GST for equipment or machinery used in agriculture, fertilizers or seeds and medicines has been put before the Finance Minister. Has been laid.
  • In this meeting, it has also been proposed that in order to increase the national agricultural productivity, a targeted investment strategy of Rs 1000 crore should be made every year for eight years, focusing on special crops like gram, soybean and mustard, so that farmers can get more money for these special crops. can be encouraged more.

In the meeting, the Finance Minister paid attention to everyone’s suggestions, proposals and recommendations.
