You might have heard that doctors make poor patients. But have you heard of a doctor becoming their own patients. Proving the impossible is Chen Wei-Nong a plastic surgeon from Taiwan who operated on himself. As per reports, the operation wasn’t a simple one either as Chen did his own vasectomy.
According to a report by the Oddity CentralChen Wei-Nong is a plastic surgeon and has his own clinic in Taipei City. He is also a father of three children and his wife did not want any more children, Chen underwent vasectomy to please his wife.
He recorded himself performing his own vasectomy and posted it on Facebook so that people could understand the process.
There are a total of 11 steps in this entire process. Chen administered local anaesthesia and began the operation. However, operating on oneself is not easy, which is why the surgery, which usually takes only 15 minutes, took Chen an hour to complete. However, the operation was successful, and Chen was said to be doing well.
He said that sterilising himself was a very strange experience. He added that while sterilisation for women is a more complicated process, it is relatively straightforward in men.
His video went viral and has received more than 40 lakh views. Many people praised his courage and his love for his wife, but many also expressed concern. People said that it was not safe to do this and that a serious accident could have happened. Some even called him the most fearless person in Taiwan. Chen did not get into any legal trouble because he is a licensed surgeon.
