Internet never forgets. If a video truly touches hearts, it often finds its way back. That is exactly what’s happening with a clip of Nagendra Praboo, a tourist guide from Tamil Nadu who is once again gaining widespread attention online and for all the right reasons.

A few years ago, it gained attention for showing Nagendra’s unique way of guiding foreign tourists in Tamil Nadu. It shows him demonstrating Bharatanatyam, one of India’s oldest classical dance forms. In the video, Nagendra begins by reciting a classical hymn. Then he moves on to show the intricate art of Bharatanatyam through mudras (hand gestures), facial expressions, eye and neck movements and strong body language. He even includes representations of Lord Parvati and Lord Shiva which makes the performance even more mesmerising.

The video resurfaced online with the description: “Nagendra Prabu, a tourist guide from Tamil Nadu, is winning the internet — not just for his knowledge, but for the passion with which he brings India’s classical arts to life.”

It also shared a bit about his journey: “Once a struggling youth from a modest background, Nagendra trained in classical dance, worked as a folk performer, and eventually found his calling as a heritage guide.”

“Through his work, he’s turning temples into classrooms, streets into stories, and history into something you feel,” it added.

The reel has now crossed four million views and is drawing praise from social media users.

One user said, “People like him make India, Bharat.”

Another wrote, “Wow, never seen someone so amazing in doing mudra in Bharatnatyam. He is truly talented.”

“His hand movements are so smooth. Everything is so so good. Respect,” someone remarked.

A viewer expressed, “Such graceful!!! He’s in the right profession and enjoying it to the fullest, delivering the best ever experience for the foreigners.”

“How creative his thoughts are to give tourists a great experience. Not everything is replaced by AI,” read another comment.

Bharatanatyam is a well-known classical dance form from Tamil Nadu. It is made up of four main parts: Bhava (expressions), Raga (melody), Tala (rhythm) and Natyam (dance). The dance includes special body postures like Aramandi (a half-sitting pose), mudras and facial expressions to tell stories and show emotions.
