A harrowing video circulating on social media shows the terrifying moments during the stampede at Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL victory parade outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday.

The footage, apparently captured through Instagram Stories, reveals scenes of chaos and panic as crowds jostled fiercely. Several RCB fans can be seen collapsing to the ground, visibly struggling to breathe. At least half a dozen people are shown sitting or lying down with outstretched arms, gasping for air while others desperately try to hold them up.

In one striking moment, a fan wearing an RCB jersey climbs over those fallen in the crush to reach out to his friends, highlighting the human struggle amid the chaos.

The video’s caption reads, “People are dying, don’t come near Chinnaswamy,” capturing the deadly severity of the stampede.

The tragedy unfolded as thousands gathered to celebrate RCB’s maiden IPL title win, but the victory celebrations turned into a nightmare. So far, 11 deaths have been confirmed and at least 27 people are admitted to hospitals with injuries.

The video was shared by X users MeghUpdates and @khushbookadri. News18 could not independently verify the authenticity of the videos shared on social media.

The stampede broke out near the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday as more than thousands of RCB fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the team after their first-ever IPL win, according to official sources.

However, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said, “no information on deaths in RCB celebrations in Bengaluru, will inform on receiving details.” According to eyewitnesses, a stampede-like situation emerged as fans crowded the venue of the felicitation. Visuals showed police shifting the injured persons and those who fell unconscious in ambulances to nearby hospitals.

Visuals also showed some of those who were in an unconscious state being administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by those nearby. Police had a tough time in crowd management as a large number of cricket enthusiasts tried to gain entry, at the same time, into the stadium.

Police used mild force to control the crowd and bring the situation under control ahead of a special felicitation at the stadium for the RCB team organised by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).

“It was a young, vibrant crowd. We cannot use lathi,” Shivakumar said. The reason for the stampede was, however, not immediately known.
