The Rajdhani Express remains one of India’s most prestigious trains, and with the introduction of the luxurious Tejas Rajdhani Express, the demand for tickets has soared. Securing a seat on this high-speed, comfortable train has become akin to a rare achievement. But recently, an incident on this very train shocked passengers and netizens alike. A video capturing the aftermath went viral on social media, prompting widespread outrage.

A passenger travelling on train number 12309, the New Delhi-bound Tejas Rajdhani Express from Rajendra Nagar Terminal, had his confirmed RAC seat on berth number 47 of coach B8. However, to his dismay, the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) assigned to the coach, instead of allotting the berth to him, allegedly gave it to another individual without any prior intimation.

The passenger, forced to undergo severe discomfort both physically and mentally, reported the matter to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) Abhinav Siddharth of the Danapur Division. Acting swiftly, Siddharth instructed an Assistant Commercial Manager (ACM) to conduct a detailed enquiry.

Following the investigation, the complaint was found to be genuine. In a decisive move, the Railways terminated the services of the TTE, identified as Amar Kumar of Rajendra Nagar. The ACM personally contacted the complainant and corroborated the facts, as per instructions from the Senior DCM.

It was further alleged by the complainant that the berth had been illegally handed over to another passenger in exchange for money, a serious breach of conduct and trust. While the matter remains under further scrutiny, railway authorities are hopeful that this strong disciplinary action will deter similar misconduct by other railway personnel.

This incident has stirred debate online and drawn attention to the challenges faced by passengers even on premium trains such as the Tejas Rajdhani. The Railways’ firm stance in this case has been widely appreciated, with many hoping it sets a precedent for zero tolerance towards corruption and negligence.
