Recently, a woman from Britain shared on social media that her 12-year-old daughter has her apartment. Her parents secured the apartment to help her learn to live independently. But is the house truly separate?
According to a report by The SunAudrey Barton has created a separate living space for her daughter. This ‘house’ is actually a portion above their garage, designed and decorated to resemble a full apartment. The family spent over Rs 21 lakh to give the space a complete apartment-like feel. The apartment includes a bathroom, kitchen, and its own heating and cooling system.
Teaching An Important Lesson On Independence
The most interesting part is that the girl is responsible for cleaning and maintaining her apartment daily, though her mother visits once every two months to do a thorough cleaning.
The parents’ goal is to help their daughter become independent, teaching her how to manage her own living space. While the girl keeps the apartment tidy, her mother steps in occasionally for guidance, explaining that sometimes even a responsible child needs a bit of help.
The mother also makes a point not to wash her daughter’s clothes, letting her take care of them herself. She believes that by doing so, her daughter will learn to feel responsible for the clothes she wears and think twice before making them dirty.
The woman even shares videos of herself cleaning her daughter’s room on her Instagram account. One of these videos, showing her cleaning the room, has garnered 36 lakh views.
