Attack on camps in Sudan: The notorious paramilitary group of Sudan attacked the camps of homeless people in Darfur area for two days, killing more than 100 people. Those killed include 20 children and 9 relief workers. Sudan’s human coordinator Clementine Nakveta-Salami said that the attack was carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the fighters associated with him. On Friday, he attacked a city named Jamjam and Abu Shorouk and a city near Al-Fashar, the capital of North Darfur province.
According to the United Nations, the city of Al-Fashar is still under the control of the army. The fight between the Army and RSF (Rapid Support Forces) has been going on since the civil war that started two years ago in Sudan. So far more than 24,000 people have lost their lives in this struggle, but the workers believe that the real number can be even more. Enquetta-Salami said in his statement that these camps were attacked again on Saturday. Nine relief workers working in Jamjam camp also died in this attack.
RSF dismisses allegations
The RSF, meanwhile, has rejected the allegations of atrocities against him, especially with the Jamjam camp. He has described these allegations as false and concocted. In a statement released on Saturday, the RSF said that a video is spreading on social media in which the discomfort of the citizens has been shown. He claimed that this video was made by the Sudani army to discredit him.
The RSF accused the army of using fake artists and artificial scenes for false propagation to show them wrong. The paramilitary group said that it follows the international human law and accused the army of trying to divert people’s attention from real crimes, which she herself has committed against the Sudani public.
Struggle for power started in 2023
The struggle over power between the Army and RSF in Sudan has taken the form of war in April 2023, which has broken the hopes of bringing democracy in the country. Due to this war, millions of people have been forced to leave their homes and there has been a huge havoc in areas like Darfur. Now the pressure on RSF has increased even more due to new army attacks in Khartum.
