PAK’s GDP increased by 4.2 percent … Pakistan passed a budget of Rs 4,224 billion


The National Economic Council of Pakistan under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has unanimously approved the National Development Budget of Rs 4,224 billion for FY 2025-26. NEC has targeted to achieve a growth rate of 4.2 percent of GDP for the upcoming financial year 2025-26.

& lsquo; Radio Pakistan & rsquo; According to the news released on Wednesday (June 4, 2025), four provincial chief ministers of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan participated in the NEC meeting held in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The meeting also announced the growth rate of GDP 2.7 percent in the current financial year ending June 30. Pakistan follows the financial year from July 1 to June 30. Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif raised the issue of postponing India’s Indus Water Treaty (IWT) and said that India’s threats to deprive Pakistan of water resources are unacceptable and we will beat India on this front too.

Shahbaz Sharif said that agriculture sector has an important role in increasing foreign currency exchange and growth rate, so a strategy is being made to improve agricultural production.

The Indus Water Treaty was signed by the two countries in 1960 to resolve the water dispute between them and share the water of six main rivers of the Indus Basin.

Meanwhile, NEC also approved the 13th Five Year Development Scheme and Uran Pakistan Khake, which is a major project to accelerate national economic growth. It was informed in the meeting that from July 2024 to April 2025, there has been an increase of 30.9 percent in funds and the current account has been positive for the first time.

Due to government policies, the policy rate has gradually reduced to 11 percent, while the loan for private sector development increased from July 2024 to May 2025 to Rs 681 billion.
