Vitamin E Overdose : Vitamins are very important elements for the body, but the body needs them differently according to age, health and gender. The body needs every vitamin. Like other vitamins, Vitamin E is also very important for the body. It plays an important role in preventing blood clots, protecting cells from oxidative damage and strengthening the immune system.
It is also very beneficial for the skin. It protects it from damage with its antioxidant properties. Vitamin E is found in seeds, nuts, vegetables. However, only a limited quantity of it is beneficial. Vitamin E in excessive amounts can be dangerous for the body.
Why is excessive amount of Vitamin E dangerous?
According to many studies, Vitamin E can help improve lung function, mental health, liver health and provide relief from period pain. However, one should try to get this nutrient from natural sources like almonds, sunflower seeds, spinach, kiwi, tomatoes only. One should not take its pills without the advice of an expert. Because too much of it can cause toxicity (Vitamin E Toxicity) in the body.
What is Vitamin E Toxicity
Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin and remains stored in the liver and fat filled tissues for a long time. This can make it difficult for the body to get rid of large amounts of Vitamin E, which can be toxic to the body. This happens when Vitamin E is taken in too much quantity. Meaning, if more than 1,100 mg of Vitamin E is consumed in the body in any day, then symptoms ranging from nausea, fatigue to brain stroke, bleeding and muscle weakness can be seen.
Vitamin E toxicity can happen only to those people who take it in large quantities. Generally, natural foods rich in Vitamin E do not cause excess of it. Vitamin E toxicity can be serious in those who are already taking anticoagulants or antiplatelets.
