Layoffs are being done on the basis of performance

Microsoft has announced to lay off one percent of its company’s staff. The company has two lakh 28 thousand employees worldwide. In this way, 2280 or approximately 2300 employees will be removed from the global workforce. The company has decided to do this with underperforming staff. These include staff from many other departments including security. Microsoft spokesperson told CNBC that we are focusing on high talent. The company helps its employees to learn and grow. Despite this, action is taken against those who do not perform. This is part of the company’s new initiative of Global Talent Performance Management.

Performance report prepared after months

Managers have spent months preparing performance reports before preparing staff layoff plans. Further action has to be taken on that basis. Whatever employees will be removed, the space vacated by them will be filled by making new appointments. Microsoft’s global workforce will remain stable. This is not the first time that Microsoft is going to lay off staff. Even in 2023, the company had laid off 10 thousand staff. Apart from this, there were also minor retrenchments in its gaming zone xbox. Retrenchment is going on in other IT companies also from 2023 onwards.
