For many around the world, solving complex puzzles is among their favourite pastimes. Whether it’s a jigsaw puzzle or a tricky brain teaser, people often get stuck or confused with these high IQ games and don’t like to move ahead without finding the actual answer.

A puzzling optical illusion has left many confused on social media platform X, with people struggling to count the total number of balls in a simple picture.

These optical illusions are often considered a great way to enhance your brain functioning. They require you to think beyond your comfort zone and search for answers from various perspectives.

The latest brain teaser on X has left many scratching their heads, asking people a simple question, “How many balls can you see here?”

The photograph was posted on X by a user named @quiz_riddles and shows a series of multi-coloured balls that are arranged into a pyramid form. The illusion has left many scratching their heads as people took to the comments section to give conflicting answers to the question.

One of the major reasons behind the confusion is that the 3D pyramid structure does not feature all the balls at once. As a result, many presumed the bottom of the pyramid might contain 10 balls, followed by six on the second level, three on the third and the top with one ball, thus making a total of 20.

Meanwhile, the comments section was divided with some claiming the pyramid had 30 balls, while others said the answer should be 21.

What’s the correct answer?

Well, the actual answer to the confusing puzzle is 16. The confusing image tempted many social media users to do all the maths to try and find out how many balls were hidden in the image, but all this was not required since the question was simple and only asked for the balls visible in the picture.

Hence, there was no requirement to find out how many balls make up the pyramid.

“The word ‘SEE’ cleverly adds a layer of confusion to this brain teaser. Answer: 16,” the user wrote in a separate post.
