Actually, enamel is a white colored layer present on our teeth, which protects the teeth. Besides, enamel is also the strongest part of our body. But most of the people ignore the care of enamel, for which they have to suffer the consequences later. After the enamel gets damaged, decay and yellowness occurs in the teeth. In such a situation, it is very important to take care of the enamel for oral care.
What is enamel?
The layer present on top of our teeth is called enamel. Actually, the hardness and whiteness of our teeth is maintained by this enamel. Being made up of 95% hydroxyapatite minerals, this enamel is the strongest in the body. Also, one of its limitations is that there are no living cells present in the enamel, due to which it cannot be repaired. In such a situation, it becomes even more important to take care of it because this is the only way to protect your teeth from cavity and yellowness.
How does enamel damage occur?
The enamel never gets damaged overnight but it gets damaged over a process of several days. In such a situation, there can be many reasons for its damage. As-
1. Brushing vigorously: Many people think that brushing too hard makes the teeth shine and clean properly. But nothing like this happens. Due to this, only the enamel layer on the teeth gets corroded and the gums also get damaged.
2. Poor Oral Health: If oral health is not taken care of, the enamel layer gets damaged. This is because plaque accumulates on it and bacteria start attacking, due to which the tooth rots quickly.
3. Low pH of mouth: Even when the pH of our mouth is very low, the enamel gets damaged. Due to low pH the mouth becomes acidic and weakens the enamel.
How to take care of it?
You can adopt many methods to take care of enamel. For example, it includes eating the right kind of food and eating at the right time. Also, it is important to stay hydrated, because this produces more saliva in the mouth and reduces the effect of acid. Apart from this, enamel can also be protected by regularly brushing the teeth and getting them checked.
