For most investors, business pitches happen in boardrooms, networking events or over a casual coffee. But for OYO CEO Ritesh Agarwal, they can pop up quite literally anywhere, even in the most inconvenient of moments. Imagine standing in line to use the restroom on a plane, when suddenly an eager entrepreneur launched into a startup pitch.
Sounds unbelievable? Well, that’s exactly what happened to Agarwal, proving that when it comes to passionate founders, there’s no such thing as a bad time or place to pitch an idea.
Agarwal, who gained even more recognition as a judge on Shark Tank India, recently shared a hilarious anecdote.
“You know startup fever is real when you get pitched regardless of the situation! But honestly, I love the passion and trust young entrepreneurs place in me. If you’re obsessed with your idea, pitch anywhere, anytime,” he said.
In a video, he recounted how, while travelling, he was patiently waiting outside the aeroplane’s restroom when an eager entrepreneur seized the moment to present a business idea. Just as he thought he’d finally get to use the toilet, another enthusiastic individual stopped him for yet another pitch. At that point, he humorously had to put a pause on the impromptu business meeting and say, “Mujhe badi tez aayi.”

The internet, as always, had plenty to say. One user commented, “That’s because you are a very humble guy.” Another wrote, “You are an amazing entrepreneur.” “Humblest person I found till date,” read a comment while yet another said, “You have a very genius personality, sir.” “Ritesh you are amazing. OG SHARK,” praised a user.
Agarwal, who ranked sixth on the Hurun Rich List of India 2024, made history as one of the youngest Indian billionaires at just 30 years old, with a net worth of Rs 1,900 crore. His story surely shows that no matter how high you climb, there’s no escaping an enthusiastic pitch – sometimes, not even when nature calls.
