Gaza Ceasefire: Hostage exchange continues between Israel and Hamas. Meanwhile, Israel says that Hamas’s list has shown that out of the 33 hostages to be released in the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, eight have died. Government spokesman David Menser said that Hamas has said that 25 of the 33 people are alive.
According to the report of The Times of Israel, Israel said that it has received a list of information about the condition of the hostages from Hamas. He also said that the next release of hostages will take place on Thursday (January 30, 2025), followed by another release on Saturday (February 1, 2025).
Big question for the families of hostages
Even though there has been a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, it is not known whether the people held hostage inside Gaza are alive or dead. This is a heart-wrenching question for the families of the hostages. Due to pressure from this family, the Israeli government has now reached an agreement to free them. Seven of the 33 hostages have already been released.
Body of IDF soldier killed in 2014 also recovered
Of the 251 hostages held by Hamas, 87 are still in Gaza, including the bodies of at least 34. These bodies have been confirmed by the IDF. Hamas is also holding hostage two Israeli citizens who entered the Strip in 2014 and 2015, as well as the body of an IDF soldier killed in 2014. Not only this, the body of another IDF soldier killed in 2014 was also recovered from Gaza this month.
