
SBI NRI Account: State Bank of India (SBI) has simplified the account opening process for its NRE (Non-Resident Indian) and NRO (Non-Resident Ordinary) customers. Under this, the process of TAB based end-to-end digital onboarding has been started for NRIs. The bank has given this information through a press release.
You can open account through this app
Tab based banking facility means opening an account without going to the bank. In the year 2023, SBI had launched a digital platform, due to which Indians living outside the country will be able to open both savings and current accounts through the mobile application YONO. Under this new tab based facility, you do not need to go to the bank with documents etc., customers can get their documents digitally verified sitting at home, submit them and get their account opened instantly. This will also take less time.
According to the SBI website, an NRI can open his account in Indian currency or foreign currency if he wants. You can open an account in Indian currency in the form of current account or fixed deposit, while you can open a fixed deposit account in foreign currencies like Dollar, Euro, Pound, Yen, Australian Dollar.
How to open account through YONO app
- Download YONO app first
- Click on Open Savings Account and then go to Open NRE/NRO Account option
- After this, write the country name, mobile number with ISD code, email ID and click on submit button.
- Now go to OTP verification and enter the OTP received on the mobile.
- After this confirm your given data
- Account- NRE/NRO
- Type- Savings/Current
- Status Type- NRI/ PIO and now click next
- Now read the information on the screen and click on Next
- Now choose any of these options – Have to go to India and open an account/Send the documents by courier to GNC.
- Now enter personal details, passport and visa details, your permanent and local address
- Now write your educational qualification, nomination, profession, religion-caste etc.
- Finally, re-read your details and enter OTP to accept the ‘Terms and Conditions’
- After completing all these steps your application for NRI account will be successfully completed.
