Now it will not take 3 years to complete graduation, UGC is working on a new policy, read details

UGC Chairman M Jagadish Kumar said during an event in Chennai that UGC is now planning for students to complete the degree program in 2 years. The University Grants Commission (UGC) is going to allow students to complete three-year degree courses in two and a half years and four-year degree courses in three years from next year’s academic session (2025-26).

UGC Chairman M. Jagadish Kumar said during the program in Chennai that the commission will give students an opportunity to study at their own pace. If a student wants to complete a three-year degree in four years, he will also be allowed to do this. Kumar had participated in the program regarding the implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. During this, he said that students who are capable can complete the degree program in less time in the coming years.

will get a break
UGC Chairman Kumar said that they may get six months to one year’s time. Along with this, he also said that despite choosing a slow-paced degree, if a student wants, he can still take a break from the course and come back later to complete it as the courses will be given multiple entry and exit points. In this way, UGC is trying to make the graduation course very flexible.

Students will have choice
Students doing graduation from every subject are expected to benefit from this policy. If students complete the credit score in 2 years, then they can get 3 or 5 years for the degree. Students who are weak in degree studies can extend the time of their graduation program to 5 years. This means that now students will have the choice as to how much time they need to complete the degree.

system should be easy
Also, after choosing the time limit, it can be changed later. If the student feels that he or she will be able to complete the degree before or after the chosen limit, he or she will also be given the option to do so. The objective of UGC behind this is to make the higher education system easier, so that more and more students can get higher education.
