A mysterious message has appeared on Google satellite live images near a shipping port in Los Angeles, sparking widespread concern. The words ‘help’ and ‘traffico’ are visible in the debris of the recent wildfires that ravaged the region, along with “LAPD” and “Federal”. Officials have yet to comment on the photographs, although various theories have emerged on X, formerly Twitter.
The discovery has sent shockwaves on the internet, with many users attempting to decode the meaning behind the message. Some social media users believe it might be a prank by kids, while others think it could be a genuine cry for help from someone affected by the wildfires. An individual even speculated that it might be related to human trafficking, where someone is seeking help.
A user on X posted Google images of the area, which is near North Mission Road in Los Angeles. “This disturbing message was spotted on Google Maps in Los Angeles, California, with the words “Help” and “Traffico” written in the debris, surrounded by shipping containers. It has been confirmed that the lot next to this location is a shipping yard, which has led users to fear that this is connected to human trafficking or worse,” he wrote.

A user commented on the post and identified the location right next to Union Pacific Railroad, which is convenient for shipping. “I seriously doubt people that were being trafficked they’d be able to make those without getting caught by the traffickers and then totally unnoticed it until we did via Google maps then still leave it there,” another wrote. The third user said, “This looks like a desperate cry for help, possibly a human trafficking victim trying to send a message. We need to investigate this immediately and bring attention to it.”
On January 7, a series of fierce wildfires erupted and roared across the Los Angeles area, killing at least 28 people. The Palisades Fire, the largest of the blazes, has destroyed thousands of homes, killed at least 11 people and reached 90 per cent containment. The Eaton Fire has also claimed lives, with at least 16 people reported dead and was 98 per cent contained. While the Hughes Fire prompted evacuation orders or warnings for over 50,000 people; it was 95 per cent contained by Sunday evening.
