Mushroom production will be promoted in Bihar, government approves 4 crore scheme

The Bihar government has once again proved that it is serious about increasing the income of farmers and modernizing farming. In the financial year 2025-26, the government has taken a major initiative under the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission and approved a scheme of Rs 4 crore to promote mushroom production. This scheme will not only become a new source of income for farmers, but will also promote organized and technical farming in the state.

What is the purpose of the scheme?

The objective of this scheme is to make them self -reliant by giving training, technology and financial help in mushroom production to the farmers of Bihar. Under this, the establishment of various units related to mushrooms like air -conditioned mushroom production unit, compost unit and spon unit will be encouraged in the private sector.

How much will you get subsidy?

The cost of air -conditioned mushroom production unit and compost unit has been fixed at Rs 30 lakh, on which the government will give subsidy of up to Rs 40% i.e. Rs 12 lakh. A grant of up to Rs 8 lakh will be available for spon unit at a cost of Rs 20 lakh. Keeping in mind the small level farmers, a subsidy of 50% i.e. Rs 1 lakh will be given on unit cost of Rs 2 lakh.

Who can apply?

Only the farmers of Bihar will get the benefit of this scheme. Farmers who want to set up mushroom units can apply under the Integrated Horticulture Mission.

Eligible farmers can register online by visiting http://horticulture.bihar.gov.in/ or DBT portal. The application process will be on the basis of “first come, first serve”, so that the eligible and interested farmers can get quick benefits.

Why is this plan special?

Till now mushroom production has been scattered and traditional methods in Bihar, which gave limited benefits to the farmers. Now this scheme of the government will give it an opportunity for good income to farmers by bringing it to a systematic and commercial level. Also, it can open the way of new self -employment for youth and women.
