A 19-year-old college student was harassed on the First Class Ladies Compartment train from Goregaon to Vile Parle. According to a Reddit post, a man made creepy and inappropriate comments to the student after she boarded. The woman recorded the man on her phone as evidence.
Sharing the ordeal on Reddit, her friend wrote, “A man passed by and made a comment “Wow” in a very creepy way, my friend got scared and still tried to ignore and moved a bit inside. Then my friend took out her phone to record that man and he sensed it and moved away after some time my friend pretended to be talking to someone over call while still recording and she caught his face in her camera.”
Although the man moved away when he noticed that the recording captured his face. In the Reddit post, the victim’s friend wrote, “I want everyone to remember his face.”
The victim is shocked and afraid, her friend shared, urging the Mumbai Police and social media to help identify the man.
The post added, “Imagine if he had entered the compartment after the train started? There were barely 2 other females on that compartment and my friend had to face him till the next station and even worse if he had started following her till her college.”
It concluded, “I don’t live in Mumbai but I have a lot of friends there and I see everything on the stories and I used to think Mumbai is actually the safest metro city.”
The post has over 1.5K upvotes, but police has not yet taken cognisance of the incident.

Reddit users reacted to the post with one writing, “What happened is truly horrible, and your friend didn’t deserve that. But please don’t lose faith. It’s not perfect, but many people here care and speak up. The city has systems in place, and when we report and raise our voices, action is taken. Another user commented, “That guy needs some beating. Especially from girls. I hope someone teaches him a lesson soon” while a third user said, “I hope someday someone, at the right moment, teaches him a lesson.”
