Pakistan On Waqf Amendment Bill: Recently, the Waqf Amendment Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha, which has now taken the form of the law after the President’s approval. The purpose of this law is to digitize Waqf properties, ban illegal encroachments and to fix accountability of Waqf boards.
This bill was in controversies in India, but more interesting response has come from Pakistan. Qamar Cheema, who is generally criticized for Indian policies, is considered to be Pakistan’s leading political analyst and security affairs experts, he publicly appreciated this law. He said that India’s decision regarding Waqf is correct. Qamar Cheema further said that as an example, people keep the dargah illegally occupied, so it is necessary to control such things. Such a situation is also in Pakistan, where people occupy mosques. I think the dargah people think that we should do our own work. The people of the dargah live in Pakistan and do corruption.
Qamar Cheema supported the government
Qamar Cheema said that what the Modi government is doing is not wrong. He said that digitization of Waqf properties is an essential and positive step. The provisions that have been brought to prevent illegal encroachment are necessary. Transparency is necessary in the operation of mosques and dargahs so that their misuse can be stopped. He also said that the Muslim community itself should come forward and support these reforms as it is in the long -term interest of the society. He said that everyone should focus on reforms. My question is if the Waqf people are unable to improve for so many days, then whose mistake is. Therefore, reform is necessary.
Waqf mafia and corruption
Qamar Cheema also justified the word ‘Waqf Mafia’. He believed that 50,000 Waqf properties are going on in India, which is shocking. All these lands are inside UP. Many people of these institutions run their own arbitrary and want to avoid government monitoring. Waqf institutions are not ready for their internal reforms, due to which their purpose is becoming deformed. Giving the example of Pakistan, he said that all the efforts are made to protect religious institutions from government monitoring there so that economic transparency can be avoided.
