Microsoft preparation for trimming again, AI will fall on the sales team amid investment

The world’s legendary tech company Microsoft is once again preparing to lay down the employees on a large scale. This time the most impact is going to be on the company’s sales and marketing divisions.

According to reports, Microsoft can announce the availability of thousands of employees from the job earlier this month. This decision is coming at a time when the company is investing heavily in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is rectifying its internal structure again.

Top officer on leave

The company’s top sales executive Jadson Altoff has announced to go to an eight -week leave just before the trithan announcement. According to Bloomberg’s report, Microsoft has confirmed that Jadson Altoff, who is the Chief Commercial Officer of the company, will return after completing his holiday in September. A spokesman for the company has said that this holiday was already decided and a plan has been made according to the internal calendar of Microsoft.

This action will be the third trim of this year

Let us know that this will be the third major trim of this year for Microsoft. In May, the company trimmed about 6,000 employees and after a few weeks, more than 300 more people went to jobs. Now once again the company is going to start a new round of retrenchment in July, with the start of the new financial year.

This time the most impact will be affected by customer-faceing, ie customers having direct contact with customers. In the earlier two priests, where most of the software engineers and product developers were affected, this time teams related to sales and marketing will be the most affected. In Microsoft, about 45,000 employees work in sales and marketing divisions, while the total workforce of the company was around 2.28 lakhs as of June 2024.

Pointing to changing business model

In April this year, Microsoft had indicated that it will now do the work of selling software to small and mid-size business customers through third party agencies. It was clear from this that the company is moving towards shortening its customer-port and sales networks. According to the report of Bloomberg, although this trimming will not be limited to the sales team only, but the most impact will be on this department.

This move of Microsoft is considered part of its long -term strategy, in which the company wants to focus more on techniques like AI and automation. In such a situation, it can be considered another step towards limiting the role of human resources.
