Many users couldn’t get enough of what’s now being called the ‘eye roll of the century’

A not-so-subtle eye roll from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is making waves online after she was caught reacting to French President Emmanuel Macron during a G7 roundtable meeting in Canada on Monday.

The moment unfolded during a discussion in Alberta, where Meloni and other world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, had gathered.

As Macron leaned in to whisper something into Meloni’s ear—while shielding his mouth—Meloni responded with a theatrical eye roll and a swift lean back, clearly unimpressed.

‘Eye roll of the century’

The video clip quickly spread across social media, sparking endless commentary, jokes, and speculation. Many users couldn’t get enough of what’s now being called the “eye roll of the century.”

“Georgia Meloni ROLLS HER EYES at France’s President Emmanuel Macron. The G7 is off to such a good start. Meloni is awesome, she can’t hide her distain for the globalist elite,” one user posted on X.

“Meloni with the eye roll of the century. She’s torn Macron apart in previous speeches so this isn’t a shock,” another chimed in.

While no one knows exactly what Macron said to prompt the reaction, that didn’t stop the internet from trying to guess.

“What do you think Macron whispered to Meloni at the G7? Macron is a bit of a gossiper,” one comment read.

While another curious user asked: “C’mon spill the tea. What did you tell Meloni to evoke that priceless eye roll?”

One of the more creative takes joked, “Giorgia Meloni should be declared as the President of UNERC – United Nations Eye Roll Committee.”

Despite the light-hearted moment, it stood in sharp contrast to the serious tone of the summit, where G7 leaders issued a joint statement calling for de-escalation in the Middle East as the conflict between Israel and Iran escalates with no sign of stopping, and both sides continue to exchange missile and drone strikes.

In a statement, G7 leaders had said they were committed to “peace and stability” in the Middle East. “We affirm that Israel has a right to defend itself. We reiterate our support for the security of Israel,” it stated.

“Iran is the principal source of regional instability and terror,” the statement added.
