A French expat living in Gurugram has described the city as a “massive landfield, full of filth” and compared it to a “pig house”.
With heavy monsoon rain waterlogging parts of the city, many social media users have already expressed their outrage over the infrastructure and civic amenities.
This time, a lengthy social media post by a French woman has garnered the attention of other users.
In her post, the woman, who is married into an Indian family, wrote, “Leaving Gurugram feels like the only wise option sometimes. What could have been a great modern and peaceful city has turned to a massive landfield, unlivable, full of filths and broken pavments.”
The woman, who identified herself as Mathilde R, also wrote that many others known to her are already moving back to Delhi. She also claimed some were leaving India for good.
“Many expact friends are moving back to delhi or leaving India for good, with the feeling that abroad will be a relieve. But what about those who are stuck here ? Many feel doomed, condamned to live like animals in a pighouse,” (sic), she wrote.
“With no respect neither help from their authorities, which are now being accused by many of being corrupted. Despair and anger are growing among Gurgaon people, who are wondering if their taxes have served to build someone else castle instead of bringing them a decent quality of life,” she mentioned.
Questioning the authorities over the longevity of the situation, she wrote, “For how long will this situation last? For how long will the municipality use middle age machines and wastes treatment systems, Killing our cows, and polluting or cherished mother nature for centuries, while our asian neighbours are thriving in cleanliness and growth.”
“If you dare to step out of your home, you can try to walk through sewage and people’s poop, die on the road trying to make your way out of your streets, or end up electrocuted while you are coming back from work and you have no other choices than crossing a river full of shit, created by unexistant drains. Remember, the money is used for someone else castle,” the woman mentioned.
As the monsoon peaks, the NCR is witnessing waterlogging and traffic disruptions at several places due to the rains, which have already affected daily life.
During the past few days, waterlogging was reported from several parts of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram, leading to long traffic jams and vehicle breakdowns in inundated areas.
Major roads, underpasses, and residential colonies remained affected.
