A YouTuber has gone missing after being swept away while shooting reels at the Duduma waterfall in Odisha’s Koraput district. According to the officials, the man has been identified as a 22-year-old Sagar Tudu of Berhampur in Ganjam district.

The incident occurred in the afternoon while Sagar was filming reels at the waterfall using a drone camera. He was visiting Koraput, along with his friend Abhijit Behera, to record videos of various tourist places for his YouTube channel.

Sagar was standing on a rock when the authorities of the Machakunda dam, after alerting the people residing downstream of the dam, released water following heavy rainfall in the Lamtaput area of Koraput, NDTV reported.

Sagar became stranded after a sudden surge in the waterfall’s flow. The YouTuber could not manage to balance on the rock for long and was swept away due to the heavy water flow, reports said.

Some tourists, as well as locals, tried to rescue him but failed.

Upon receiving information, officials of the Machkunda police and Fire Brigade personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation to rescue the YouTuber. However, they could not trace him.

Earlier, two final-year MBBS students of the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) drowned while bathing at the Deojharan waterfall in the Jujomura area of Odisha’s Sambalpur district.

The incident occurred when six students from VIMSAR visited the popular waterfall for an outing. According to local media reports, the group climbed to the top of the falls despite an official notice banning visits during holidays.

The deceased, identified as Monika Meena from Rajasthan and Sandeep Puri from Delhi, accidentally slipped into deep water while bathing. As per the local media, neither of them knew how to swim. Monika sustained a serious head injury while both were swept away by the strong current.

Local tourists, along with the other students, quickly informed the police and fire services. Rescue teams soon reached the spot and managed to recover the bodies from the water.
