A man who ordered food online expected a woman to deliver his order, as per the app. However, when the delivery arrived, a man handed him the food instead. Matt Stevens took to social media, tagging Uber to flag the unexpected change in riders. He also sent them an email through an MP, noting that this was the second such incident in the past six months.
In response, Uber requested details of the incident and assured him that a team member would reach out.
“Hi, Uber. Can you please explain to me why my food, which was supposed to be delivered by a woman, was delivered by a middle-aged man? Thanks, look forward to your reply,” wrote X (formerly Twitter) user Stevens.
As per the screenshot from the app, a woman named Sadia was assigned to deliver the food order on a Honda PCX. However, a man showed up with the food order.
“I am a constituent of yours and a particular issue I’d like to raise to your attention is the recent uptick of illegal working in the food delivery sector. Attached are two separate examples from the past six months of deliveries I’ve had, that were supposed to be delivered by person A but instead were delivered by person B,” a part of the mail read.

It added, “A recent study showed that as many as 4 in 10 UberEats drivers in London are working illegally. Given that food delivery drivers are often in interaction with young women and in occasion children, this uptick is of extreme concern.”
