A man was approached by an IndusInd Bank salesperson for a lifetime free credit card. While he initially agreed, he later decided it wasn’t worth it for him and declined the offer. Since then, the salesperson has allegedly been trying to guilt-trip him, claiming she could lose her job because of his decision.
“Guilt Tripping by a Salesperson,” reads the header of the Reddit post on the platform’s “CreditCardsIndia” community.
The man, who goes by gregorous28, added some context to it. He said, “I was contacted by a salesperson from IndusInd for the Legend CC. Though initially I agreed to opt for it, I later realised that having that card even though LTF is not worth it for me. I mentioned to her that I’m no longer interested in this.”
He added that the bank’s staffer started harassing him: “She’s hell-bent on guilt-tripping me that she’s going to lose her job because I rejected a CC.”
As per the screenshot of the messages, the bank’s salesperson texted him on Friday asking him if he had completed his video KYC. A few days later, she texts him again. The message read: “Hi sir, Priya here from IndusInd Bank. Trying to reach you, sir. Please respond. Have you completed the video KYC sir?”
“Because of your application, my job is in trouble, sir. Please understand,” the message further read.
After going through the messages, many took to the post’s comments section to share their thoughts.
“The same thing happened to me. I just told them that you are not cut out for this job since you failed to convince me to get a useless card and that was too a paid card. Get a different job. You are not cut out for sales. Then a few months later, the same person called and told me that they got a job in customer service at the same bank. Apparently, when they reviewed my call recording, the manager called them and issued a transfer to customer service. They thanked me. I honestly thought they would’ve been fired but glad it went differently. That manager is a good guy,” wrote a Reddit user.
Another added, “Yes Bank same case happened with me. I was trying to apply for Rio Credit Card Rupay she tried to apply for something else. I filled in all the details and then didn’t do VKYC for a few days she was like please do it, I will help u make a lifetime free by doing rent payment from her side. I refused. Cuz of that my Rio card was pending and one day I got the message that Rio card had been dispatched I did not even so VKYC nor did I have a bank acct. Since it was a lifetime free card I kept it. Btw it’s sad but it’s always better to ignore.”
