A content creator found himself in a tricky situation after he donned the look of an Arab Sheikh at the Maha Kumbh Mela, underway in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. In a clip going viral on social media, the person, dressed up in a thobe, was captured wandering in the Mela area. He was accompanied by two other men. They were heard identifying the content creator as Sheikh Premanand who hails from Rajasthan. Though it looked like a prank, devotees didn’t take the matter lightly.

When the man was roaming around the akharas, he was confronted by some sadhus for his choice of attire. A video featuring the moment was dropped on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “A Content Creator Roaming Around Dressed as an Arab Sheikh in Maha Kumbh, Later People Caught him and beat him up badly.”

A few visitors, however, admired his look and the content creator smilingly greeted them with folded hands. The situation suddenly turned chaotic. Many people, including sadhus, gathered there and engaged in a heated argument with the three men.

Some onlookers were also seen recording the moment on their phone camera. At the end of the video, a devotee grabbed the content creator by his collar and went on to beat him up. A few visitors were also heard calling him a “fraud”.

The video garnered mixed reactions from social media users. Some criticised the content creator for his “foolish act” while others felt the sadhus could peacefully ask him to leave the Maha Kumbh. One such user said, “Sadhus were behaving in such an abnormal way.”

A viewer reckoned the content creator “deserved that treatment.” Another suggested, “It’s important to be respectful of cultural attire and traditions. Disrespecting or misrepresenting cultural symbols can lead to misunderstandings and harm.”

“Content created, Badly beaten,” quipped an individual. “Anything to gain attention these days,” added another.

One person wrote, “There should be a big banner out there ‘YouTubers and influencers are not allowed’.”

“If you are going to create content in Kumbh, then there are many things that explain the greatness of our Sanatan Dharma. When will you understand that Kumbh Mela is not the place to make these videos?” asked a user. The post has already accumulated more than two lakh views on the X platform.
