Makar Sankranti 2025: Mahakumbh 2025 has started from the day of Paush Purnima and today on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Amrit bath will also be taken on the occasion of Makar Sankranti festival. Along with this, the second royal bath of Mahakumbh will also be taken today.

For the sacred royal bath in Mahakumbh, devotees from all over the country and the world take bath in Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati i.e. Triveni Sangam on the day of Makar Sankranti. Therefore, on the holy festival of Makar Sankranti, the wonderful Chhath of Hindu Sanatan Dharma is seen at the Sangam. Today on Makar Sankranti, crowd of devotees started gathering from Brahma Muhurta for Makar Sankranti bath.

On Makar Sankranti, Shri Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani first took bath in nectar. Along with this, Shri Shambhu Panchayati Atal Akhara took the nectar bath and at the second place, Shritaponidhi Panchayati Shri Niranjani Akhara and Shri Panchayati Akhara Anand took the nectar bath. After bathing in the Akhara, the devotees also took a dip of faith at the Sangam.

In Prayagraj, there is a confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and invisible Saraswati rivers, which is called ‘Triveni Sangam’. Triveni Sangam holds special religious and spiritual significance for Hindu Sanatan Dharma. There is a religious belief that bathing at the Sangam frees one from sins and attains salvation. On the special occasion of Makar Sankranti, lakhs of devotees reached the Sangam banks for the nectar bath. The holy festival of Makar Sankranti is very important from religious point of view.

What to do after bathing on Sankranti

Donation must be done after bathing in the holy river on Makar Sankranti. You can use tit, jaggery, khichdi, copper, blanket, gold etc. as per your capacity. Besides, providing food to the poor is also very virtuous.
