Mahashivratri is famous as ‘Herath’ in Kashmir, know how to celebrate this festival

The celebration of the marriage of Mahashivaratri Lord Shiva and Parvati in Kashmir is known as “Herath”, the festival of final menstruation and its recognition is completely different. This festival is celebrated for three days in the Pandit community in the valley, one day before Maharatri and a day after Christ.

In the country, where Shiva and Parvati are worshiped on Mahashivaratri, Kashmiri Pandits worship the Bharati and the gardener is enjoyed by the flesh and flesh and the whole worship is done inside the house.

The first day of worship is worshiped with the union of Shiva-Parvati. In the puja, water and water are filled in two mats, these matko, which is considered a symbol of Shiva and Shakti, is worshiped.

In such a way, many small pots are kept on the symbol of Ganesha and other deities. The clump of this matko is called “Vatuk” and it is mandatory to have a “vatuk” in every Hindu house on Herath.

In Vatuk Puja, meat is given to God. Machhi is offered. Rogan Josh, Yakhni and Vegetarian dishes like Nadru Palak, Dum Aloo etc. are included. This worship is done only in the Kashmir Valley.

Worship in the temple is done on the day of Shivaratri, in which worship is done and darshan is done in a Shiva temple. The next day of Shivaratri is recognized which is called “Salaam” in Kashmir and Lord Shiva is worshiped in the temple on this day.

The end of this festival is two days later on the day of Amavasya when sour roti is made from rice and flour and kept in prasad with food kept in the pot. And this prasad has been divided with equality in both Hindu and Muslim community.
