An FIR has been registered against the inspector at the PGI police station, and efforts are underway to locate the police officer.
An army officer was allegedly slapped by a uniformed police inspector in a road rage incident in Uttar Pradesh’s capital, Lucknow, before the officer’s foot was run over as the cop fled the scene.
Lieutenant Colonel Anand Prakash Suman was also allegedly verbally abused during the incident, which took place in front of his wife. The incident happened on Friday at the Telibagh intersection in the PGI police station area and was captured on CCTV, which has since gone viral on social media.
An FIR has been registered against the inspector at the PGI police station, and efforts are underway to locate the police officer.
Colonel Suman, currently posted at the NCC Directorate in Patna, was in his ancestral village in Hardoi following the death of a relative. On Friday evening, while returning through Lucknow with his wife, his car narrowly avoided a collision with another vehicle that was being driven on the wrong side of the road. When he objected, a police inspector in uniform stepped out of the other car, verbally abused him, and then slapped him, News18 Hindi reported.

According to Lt Col Suman, the inspector then fled the scene in a hurry and deliberately ran over his foot while driving away. He suffered injuries and later filed a formal complaint at the PGI police station.
Based on his written complaint, an FIR was filed against the inspector under charges of assault, verbal abuse, and intentional harm.
Police have begun investigating the matter and are working to identify and arrest the inspector. Officials say the viral footage and other technical evidence are being examined.
The DCP (Central Zone) said that, given the seriousness of the case, swift action is being taken and the inspector will be arrested soon.
