A property dealer shot dead a hotel employee in a hotel in Lucknow after the victim asked him a simple question.

A harmless query late at night outside a hotel turned fatal when a property dealer shot dead one of the employees. The incident took place between 12:30 and 1 am on Monday when Diwakar Yadav, a resident of Sultanpur Jaisinghpur Bilari and an employee of Hotel Ishan Inn located in Chinhat, Vikalpkhand, Lucknow, was shot dead outside the hotel premises.
Who Killed Diwakar Yadav?
DCP East Shashank Singh said that the 21-year-old Diwakar Yadav was shot dead by a property dealer, Akash Tiwari (23), from Ayodhya’s Gosaiganj area, currently a resident of Matiyari, Chinhat. During the incident, Akash was accompanied by his female friend, Pushpa Gautam aka Payal (26), a resident of Chinhat, Vikaskhand and an event manager. What happened was that when the property dealer was standing outside Hotel Ishan, Diwakar made a harmless query.
According to the police report, after spotting him on his bike outside the hotel, the staff member questioned Akash ‘why he was standing there’ at that time of night. Soon, Pushpa, who was staying in a room at the hotel, came out in a drunken state. She sat on his bike and left.
Major actions taken by the police
Police have already arrested the accused, Akash Tiwari and Pushpa Gautam, reportedly due to the murder charge levelled against them. “Both have been taken into custody, and the weapon used in the crime is being traced. Akash will be booked under the Arms Act as well,” DCP East Shashank Singh said to Times of India.
Why was Diwakar Yadav killed?
During the confrontation session, the police asked Akash the reason for killing Diwakar. Dinesh Chandra Mishra, Chinhat inspector, revealed that earlier, during the midnight hours, when Pushpa stepped out of her room while talking on her phone, Diwakar and a few other staff members allegedly made inappropriate remarks, leading to a heated argument.
After Pushpa left the hotel with Akash, she narrated the entire incident to him, which enraged the latter to the point that he returned to the hotel within 10 minutes. This led to a heated argument between the two. Amid the commotion, the property dealer openly fired at Diwakar, and the bullet hit his neck.
The service boy was soon taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital of Medical Sciences by the hotel’s co-owner, Devendra Mishra, where he died during treatment. Following this, Devendra filed an FIR at the police station, and both accused were arrested. Inspector Chinhat Dinesh Chandra Tiwari said that they have also seized the CCTV camera recording installed in the hotel.
Diwakar Yadav’s family’s reaction
Diwakar’s family, who reached Lucknow after the incident, revealed that they were unaware of his work. “We were not aware that Diwakar was working in a hotel. Last night, our nephew called, informing us there had been a scuffle and everyone was at the police station. When we reached Lucknow, we learned about the murder,” the family said to TOI.
Diwakar Yadav was a service boy at Hotel Ishan Inn, which was co-owned by his cousin, Uday Sen Yadav of Sultanpur, and Devendra Mishra of Barabanki.
Previously, accused Akash has gone to jail in another murder case in the Sushant Golf City area in 2023. Apart from this, a case of assault and riot was registered against him at the BBD police station in 2024.
