A light plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a golf course in Sydney’s Northern Beaches on Sunday afternoon. Emergency services responded, with both people on board, believed to be aged in their 50s, reported to have sustained only minor injuries.
The Piper Cherokee light plane made an emergency landing at Mona Vale Golf Course about 2 pm, crashing into the ground. According to the flight records, the plane departed from Camden at approximately 1 pm and was intended to land at Wollongong.
An Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) spokesman said there was a pilot instructor and a student on board the plane when it made an emergency landing on the green.

The footage showed several people playing golf on the course as the plane flew overhead, watching in shock as the plane hit the ground. Debris from the plane was scattered across the course, though the aircraft remained mostly in one piece.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has urged anyone with footage of Sunday’s plane accident at Mona Vale Golf Course on Sydney’s Northern Beaches to submit it through their website.
ATSB said the plane was conducting a training flight with a pilot and instructor on board when it reportedly experienced engine power loss.
As part of its evidence-gathering process, ATSB safety investigators will interview the pilots, witnesses, and other parties involved, while also collecting recorded data such as video footage, ADS-B flight tracking, weather reports, and the pilots’ and aircraft’s maintenance records.
Investigators may also seek to recover any relevant aircraft componentry from the aircraft for further examination at the ATSB’s technical facilities in Canberra.
The ATSB will publish a final report after its investigation, detailing findings and the analysis to support those findings.
