Lhuan-dre Pretorius becomes youngest South African to score Test fifty during ZIM vs SA

Lhuan-dre Pretorius became the youngest South African to score a Test fifty during the first Test against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo on Saturday.

Playing in his debut Test, Pretorius, aged 19 years and 93 days, reached his fifty with a single off his 53rd ball in the second session of the opening day.

With this, Pretorius broke the record previously held by Graeme Pollock, who was 19 years and 317 days old when he scored a fifty against Australia in 1964 in Sydney.

Pretorius’ quick-fire knock helped South Africa recover from an early collapse, which saw the side reduced to 55 for four in the first session.

The left-handed batter showed his intent early by launching the fourth ball he faced down the ground for six.
