Forcing your way through automatic sliding doors can be dangerous and lead to serious consequences. However, a woman in Singapore recently took a risk when she attempted to squeeze through the closing doors of a train. Using her walking stick to keep the door open, she found herself stuck midway.
The incident occurred at the Gardens by the Bay MRT station and was caught on camera. A video of the moment was later shared on Reddit with the humorous caption, “Let me in.”
As the train prepared to depart, the woman rushed toward the door, struggling to free her walking stick, which had become trapped. Seeing her predicament, a passenger inside the train tried to hold the door open while another man on the platform also stepped in to help. Fortunately, the doors reopened, allowing her to board safely.
After the clip surfaced on Reddit, many viewers lashed out at the woman for her desperate attempt. One of them simply suggested, “Just get the next train…it’s probably a whole 3 minutes away.” “It can even be less than 2 mins and at worst 6-7 mins. Don’t understand the need to fight the train for that,” added another.
Echoing the same frustration, one user wondered, “I don’t know why but is it difficult to board the next available train? It’s not like one train has left and the other takes forever to wait for arrival.” Responding to the comment, a viewer said, “I suspect she’s with the guy that held the door open from inside. Not excusing the behaviour.”
“What the hell I’ve always had a fear of closing doors because even with all the safety mechanisms I still think if it closes on you you’ll just get cut in half like some cartoon character,” noted a user.
Another user felt the woman “ought to be fined” for her act. “In some countries, they can’t get into the trains. They climb on top of it,” quipped an individual. The video has garnered hundreds of upvotes and reactions so far on Reddit.
