Kohli reacts to Shubman Gill’s Edgbaston heroics: Well played star boy

Former India Test captain Virat Kohli praised current skipper Shubman Gill for his record-breaking batting exploits in the ongoing series against England.

“Well played star boy. Rewriting history. Onwards and upwards from here. You deserve all of this,” wrote Kohli, who had called time on his Test career ahead of the England tour, on his Instagram story.

Kohli’s post for Gill came after the latter’s stunning second-innings 161, which followed his first-innings 269. Across both innings, Gill overtook numerous records that Kohli had previously held including most runs by an Indian in a Test match as captain, most runs by an Indian in their debut series as captain, and highest score by an Indian captain.
