Khaleel Ahmed ends Essex stint early due to personal reasons

Indian pacer Khaleel Ahmed cut short his spell with Essex, citing personal reasons, announced the English team on Monday.

Khaleel represented Essex in two matches, taking just four wickets at an average of 64.50 after signing a two-month contract in June. The left-arm quick was supposed to continue with the team for the remainder of the County Championship season and feature in their One Day Cup campaign.

“While we are disappointed to see him leave, we fully support Khaleel’s decision and are grateful for the contributions he made during his time with us. Everyone at Essex Cricket wishes Khaleel all the very best for the future,” shared Essex through a statement.

Khaleel last turned out for India in 2019, having taken 15 wickets in 11 ODIs at an average of 31.00.
