Kerala is taking exciting steps to boost tourism. One of the biggest highlights recently was the arrival of the seaplane at the Bolgatty Waterdrome on Kochi Lake. On Sunday evening, the “De Havilland Canada” seaplane, which departed from Vijayawada, received a warm welcome with a spectacular water salute. This new initiative promises to offer travellers a unique and thrilling experience.

The seaplane services officially began today, with Kerala’s State Tourism Minister P.A. Mohammed Riyas flagging off a trial run between Bolgatty Palace and Mattupetty Dam on Monday.

“Hon’ble Minister for Tourism and Public Works Shri P.A. Mohamed Riyas flagged off a trial run for a seaplane service between Bolgatty Palace and Mattupetty Dam today. Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Coir and Law, Shri P. Rajeeve presided over the function,” Kerala Tourism shared on X (Formerly Twitter).

The new service is designed to improve connectivity between Kerala’s four airports and its scenic backwaters. Not only this, but passengers will also enjoy the added benefit of subsidized fares.

There are 9, 15, 17, 20, and 30 seats available on the seaplanes.

The “De Havilland Canada” aircraft will be operated by SpiceJet and a private company based in Switzerland.

To ensure smooth services, waterdromes will be built. As per PTI, the possible sites being considered include Kovalam, Bekal, Ashtamudi, Vembanad, Punnamada, Kumarakom and Malampuzha.

The new seaplane service is expected to provide a quick, easy and reasonably priced way to travel aroud. Nonetheless, cutting the time between important locations to less than 30 minutes continues to be the main priority. Additionally, this will help visitors’ explore the state’s well-known attractions.

This new mode of transport is made accessible to the locals as well as tourists through subsidized fares. Simultaneously, it will offer a unique experience.
