
Jute MSP: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved increasing the minimum support price (MSP) of raw jute to Rs 5650 per quintal for the marketing season 2025-26. This is Rs 315 per quintal i.e. six percent more than the previous MSP of raw jute. This decision was taken in the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Piyush Goyal said that the new MSP ensures 66.8 percent return on all India weighted average production cost, which will benefit jute growers. The government has increased the MSP on raw jute from Rs 2400 per quintal in 2014-15 to Rs 5650 per quintal for the 2025-26 marketing season, an increase of 2.35 times. According to Piyush Goyal, this increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of jute will play an important role in increasing the income of farmers and empowering their livelihood. This decision will not only encourage jute production, but will also prove to be a big step towards the goal of self-reliant India and will also be helpful in fulfilling the vision of a developed India of the Modi government at the Centre.
