Joe Biden government imposes ban on import of gas and oil from Russia, Russian economy will be affected

America sanctions on Russia: Donald Trump is going to take oath as the President of America on January 20. Before this, Joe Biden’s government has finally banned the import of gas and oil from Russia. This will have a massive impact on Russia’s economy. It is being told that this is the strictest sanction ever imposed by America on Russia. Regarding this, the Biden administration said that this is an effort so that the incoming Trump government and the peace agreement in Ukraine can be taken one step further.

America’s attack on Russia’s economy

The Biden administration says that America is against Russia’s attack on Ukraine. America wants to reduce Russia’s revenue in the oil industry through this ban. Russia started the war on Ukraine in February 2022, in which thousands of people have died. A large number of people were injured. Cities have been reduced to rubble.

Will this ban affect India?

A senior official of the current Biden government told reporters that the biggest impact of this ban will be on Russia’s energy sector, which is the biggest source of revenue for the Kremlin’s ongoing war. Along with this, the US Treasury has imposed sanctions on Russian companies Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegas, which explore, produce and sell oil.

Apart from this, sanctions have also been imposed on 183 Russian ships, which export oil from Russia. Among them there are many tankers of shadow fleet, through which petrol is traded. Many of these tankers were also used to send oil to India and China.

Biden administration officials say that this ban will cause a loss of billions of dollars to Russia every month. Now it remains to be seen how much impact this ban imposed on Russia has on India, which imports crude oil from Russia.
