Remember the Japanese man who spent around Rs 12 lakh to live like a dog? We all had a good laugh when Toco spent a huge amount on making the uncannily realistic-looking dog costume, didn’t we?
Well now, the Japanese man has taken his passion to a whole new level and opened his Tocotoco Zoo earlier this month. Located in Saitama Prefecture in the north of Tokyo, the zoo allows people to fulfil their dreams of becoming animals.
The zoo features human-sized dog costumes, including an Alaskan Malamute costume with a wagging tail and moving mouth. The official website promoting the service says, “Have you ever wanted to be an animal? Have you ever imagined yourself as something other than yourself and felt excited? We offer a service that can help make that wish come true, even if only a little, by having you wear a costume.”
As per the rental service’s official website, those interested can book private experiences at least 30 days in advance to explore life as an animal. Launched on January 26, the rental service charges 49,000 yen (around Rs 26,500) for 180 minutes, while a 120-minute session is priced at 36,000 yen (Rs 19,500).
All slots for February have already been booked despite the high price, South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported.
Along with the price, the zoo also set out certain size guidelines for the visitors. It said that the person must stand at least 4 feet 11 inches tall and not more than 5 feet 11 inches to fit inside the dog costume.
Toco also attached a YouTube video on the official website showing how the concept works. Since being shared, the service has been well received by his followers.
One of the followers expressed, “When I was very little, every time someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would say, ‘I want to be a wolf!’ And I would get very sad when adults told me it was not possible. Thank you for making these dreams come true.”
“Can I be a koala that just sleeps on the ground?” another questioned.
An account remarked, What a wonderful idea! If I lived in Japan, I’d definitely visit.”
“Becoming a jellyfish is honestly kind of tempting,” said another.
“Super cute! I remember really wanting to be a cat when I was a kid, go and live your dreams!” another posted.
