A New Jersey caretaker who admitted to contaminating students’ food with human fluids received an eight-year prison sentence.

In New Jersey, a former elementary school janitor (caretaker) who admitted to contaminating students’ food with human fluids and faeces was given an eight-year prison sentence. According to the New York Post, the caretaker has also been charged with having material of child sexual abuse. Giovanni Impellizzeri, 27, was employed at Bridgeton, New Jersey’s Elizabeth F. Moore School. NBC Philadelphia reported that in January, he confessed to third-degree possession of child sexual abuse material and second-degree official misconduct.
In a press release, the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office affirmed that Giovanni Impellizzeri will not be eligible for parole until he has completed at least five years of his sentence. His arrest came after authorities learnt of distressing footage of him engaging in sexual actions on inanimate items inside the school. Unsettling videos and communications were found on his phone during a follow-up inquiry.
“He states: ‘Honestly. I put bleach in their food before. They were fine, just a little sick. Oh, well. Not my problem,’” county Assistant Prosecutor Lindsey Seidel told the New York Post. “He also indicated: ‘I’m very f–king sick in the head. I admit that,’” he added.
County Assistant Prosecutor Seidel further went on to state that Giovanni Impellizzeri has even admitted to putting faeces in the children’s food. “They had taco meat before, and I put some … poop in there and mixed it in and nobody knew the difference. They ate the s–t right up,” Impellizzeri said earlier during the investigation.
It has been stated that the janitor tainted cooking utensils with urine, saliva, and excrement. In one video, he reportedly can be seen putting bread on his testicles, anus, and penis before spitting on it.
In addition, one of the videos was explained by prosecutor Seidel, “He mixes the spray into the cucumbers, spits in the cucumbers, and then sprays some more. He then looks at the camera and says, ‘Oh. They smell just like f–king bleach, dude. They’re going to get so f–king sick of this s–t. They’re going to get so f–king sick, dude.’ He then proceeds to put the plastic wrap back on the container of cucumbers.”
When Giovanni Impellizzeri appeared in court, he apologised. “I feel very bad about it. I wish I could go back in time and not do it, but it’s done now and I realise I have to pay for it,” the New York Post claimed. Meanwhile, Emily Bell, his lawyer, defended him by stating, “He’s not a bad person. He did some bad things. And he’s going to pay for it.”
