Jim Carrey’s role in the 1994 film The Mask is still remembered by fans. Much to their delight, the actor might reprise his iconic green mask role if the proper concept comes up. The actor has expressed his willingness to return for a sequel to the famous 1994 comedy that helped solidify his reputation in the industry. The actor stated that he did not want to revive the character for monetary gain, but if the appropriate script and conditions were presented to him, he would be willing.

In a conversation with Comicbook.com, Jim Carrey expressed, “Oh gosh, you know, it has to be the right idea. It’s not really about the money. I joke about the money… But as soon as a good idea comes your way or a group of people you enjoyed working with, things tend to change.” Moreover, he added, “You can’t be definite about these things. I said I’d like to retire, but I think I was talking more about power-resting. Because as soon as a good idea comes your way, or a group of people you enjoyed working with and stuff, it just – things tend to change.”

The original The Mask revolves around Stanley Ipkiss(played by Jim Carrey), a mild-mannered bank clerk who changes into a manic, cartoonish superhero after acquiring a mysterious mask. The film also stars Cameron Diaz in her breakthrough role and was a box-office success. A sequel, Son of the Mask, was also made. The film was released in 2005 and stars Jim Carrey and Jamie Kennedy. It failed to catch the essence of the original and tanked at the box office.

Meanwhile, Jim Carrey returns to the big screen next week with Sonic the Hedgehog 3, in which he reprises his role as Dr Robotnik, the antagonist with the huge moustache. Aside from Sonic, Jim Carrey is set to appear in director David Robert Mitchell’s next film, Evergreen Pines and the Fading Summer. The actor began his career in 1977 and rose to prominence for his comic roles. His most famous works include The Truman Show, Bruce Almighty, Dumb and Dumber, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Batman Forever, etc.
